February Devotional: For we will Praise Him!

Psalm 42:11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God

Society wants us to hide our downcast souls behind fabricated moments; some post their troubles yearning to receive affirmation that their pain can be related to, but the likes don’t cure the pain. Others share picture perfect lives that do not show the true pain behind the camera lens.

As believers, if we respond to these feelings the way the world does, then we too will end up deeper in our despair. Like David in Psalm 42, we are to put our hope in God and still praise Him in the midst of the most troubling of circumstances.

The answer to depression, anxiety, and every symptom of a downcast soul is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our God. Lord, help us to long for you in the downcast as much as we do the picture perfect. Watch how through deep praise, and a deep longing for the presence of God, souls change for the Glory of His name.
